This product is just for our home delivery customers! One pound (net per container) of winter squash (without the seeds and skin) which has been roasted and pureed with just a bit of water. It is so easy to use. Just defrost and add to your favourite soup, pie, or pasta recipe or as its own sweet side-dish. Enjoy!
We also have other types of frozen winter squash including:
Tetsukabuto (“Black Japanese”)
Delicata
Carnival
Butternut
Sweet Mama
Long Neck Pumpkin
Acorn
Pumpkin
This way you can taste-test each variety and note the difference for future reference.
“Delicata” is our favourite which we use in all our processing – so much better than the highly overrated “Butternut!!”
We hope you enjoy and please don’t ever hesitate to email us if you have a question or concern.
I made chocolate brownies with the squash replacing the butter and oil in the original recipe – they came out very moist and delicious. I hope you will offer it again soon.
Thanks so much!
It has so many uses and will keep for a very long time!
I like Seanna’s idea of using it to substitute for oils – I often use applesauce.
I also found a great roasted squash cake recipe in the Canadian Living archives … I made it with a butternut squash in December …. the only thing is I’m not sure about the added water in this?
Great! We are experimenting presently with a squash cake recipe and the pureed squash works perfectly. And there is only a tiny amount of water added to it. The squash is processed in a huge vat with only a very small amount of water added just to make the squash process more smoothly. I hope this helps.
It has been nice to receive some of your frozen products in the baskets! It helps to give me an idea of what I might like to order in the future. I haven’t used my squash yet and was thinking it was destined for a soup or simple side but now I’m thinking about dessert options…
You guys are awesome.
